Babuji Kodak Wala
I came across this tiny old store in Pondy the other day, full of signs, stickers, ancient photographs, and random(?) posters. This sign was really hilarious "No Kindly Don't Ask Wedding Negatives Yours Babuji" ^_^

And sorry about the below par pics and terrible stitching, the more I post the better I'll get :P
This is the entrance to the store:

Another sign says "Video Orders cannot be cancelled", and the cancellation charge is scratched out ^_^

The old camera in the picture below (left hand side) made us realize that the store is very old, probably from French Colonial times, but we couldn't meet the owner to verify the facts. I'll update the post as soon as I know.

Another detail, its really like Found Art. Notice the photograph from 1981 framed on the wall. It says "Beauty of 1981."

A lot of stores in India have some sign or the other advising against buying on "credit," this was quite an original print that was put up on the cupboard. There is a notice in tamil also, but I can't read it :(

Many of these posters were up, advice and moral lessons etc (the typical):

Poster for the play Dystopia
I made the poster in one night for a friend of mine who's directing a play called Dystopia, he's involved with a theatre group called Masquerade in Chennai. We were both heavily influenced by Russian Communist propaganda posters, and the clown in the background is supposed to represent one of the 3 main characters in the play. Since there were the obvious cost constraints I also made little business card sized give-aways for the play. A3 POSTER:

Miscellaneous Form Exploration
Sometimes looking at my old drawings/sketches helps me look at things with a fresh perspective. I thought I should share some scrapped work from about 2 years ago that I found in my hard drive during one of such browsings. FORM EXPLORATION TESSELATIONS 1:

The First Post: Pondicherry
Blogging is a tricky thing, lots of people blog, and only a few are good. They say its a method of self expression, and yes, you could view it as a diary of sorts. But that could also be spectacularly boring. When i decided to blog, I knew it would record my evolution in a way... but I also knew I would put effort into it because it was a Blog and therefore be published. That's the thing in a blog, its not your sketchbook or your secret diary. You are publishing it, and the whole angle changes basically. So this is my first post. I thought I would start out with a post on Pondicherry, India.

I moved here about two months ago from Mumbai. It's a quiet and peaceful place, and I've discovered a beautiful house by the sea where I imagine I can finish my novel.
Pondicherry is an ex-french colonial town. The local language is tamil, but a lot of people still speak French due to the colonial hangover. Its a cute place, heavily influenced by Aurobindo's Ashram and Auroville. Due to these two spiritual hangouts, there are a lot of tourists here, both local and foreign. So for a small town in India the place is open-minded and very tolerant towards "western" behavior. I moved here for work, but I've found that the place really grows on you. Within a month or two I've already started recognizing people, even autorickshaws and waiters. Within another I'll probably be on first name basis with everyone!
